Astrid
I have never been a calm blue sea
Astrid wasn't usually the relaxing type, but today was one of the days when doing anything other than resting in the shade seemed unbearable. And so, the white she-cat was lounging under a fern in camp, which she'd practically claimed as her own. Astrid wasn't the picky type, but when it came to comfort, under this fern was her favorite spot.
The long-furred molly rolled over on her side with a lazy yawn, her left paw stretching to rest on her belly, her fylí marking exposed to the air. Though it was meant to look like fish bones, the mark only seemed to look like a squiggly line of grey gracing her underside. Her long fur wasn't usually that well-kempt and clean like it was now, and so the splash of grey seemed a little tidier and comprehensible than it usually was. Though, not much.
The she-cat had went for a swim earlier in the morning, and had returned not long ago for a nap. Astrid usually resented cleaning her fur after she swam in the ocean, due to the incredibly bitter taste of salt which always managed to crust to her fur and eyelashes. Washing off in a freshwater pond was preferred, but Astrid had been exhausted and hadn't wanted to make the walk.
Sunlight filtering through the bright green vegetation above her was what awoke the she-cat from her much-needed rest. Her nose crinkled in distress as she shifted her head away from the sunlight beaming down on her eyelids, opening them in a squint of bright blue. With an indignant huff, Astrid craned her head towards the camp clearing, surveying the cats milling around with mild curiosity. She could hear boisterous conversations echoing through the clearing and a smile lit up her face as a cat laughed. Happy and loud, just like she preferred it.
The sunlight was glistening down on the grass, the seagulls were being loud as usual, and through perked ears, Astrid could just catch the sound of waves crashing into the shore. With a purr, the she-cat rose to delicate paws and stretched out luxuriously, her maw parting in a large, louder than needed yawn. And she decided, as she lifted her head to view the sky above, today would be a good day.

"My heart is weak" "Tear it down piece, by piece" Thymos jerked his head to the side, a satisfying snap sounding out as a result of the movement. He snapped something back into the den, before shaking his head and rolling his eyes at Athena, whom he left under the shade of the reeds and bushes that made up the warriors den for the large Fyli."leave me to think" He hadn't been doing much of anything, since there wasn't much of what he could do going on. He was hopeless at hunting, a fact the cats around him had accepted a while ago, so all he did was patrol the borders and hang around camp. Not much living in that. There was his kits, who sometimes came to visit, but then he was stuck in camp with Athena, who made fun of him for his lack of a hunting ability.
"deep in my structure" "I think I still love her"
So in order to get away from her for a while, he marched across the camp, not exactly sure where he wanted to go, but knowing a general area. Anywhere Athena wouldn't be. In his march, he didn't notice a white tail across the ground--which happened to be Astrid's--and happened to step on it, to which he glanced down at the owner and murmured a gruff "'Sorry" with the usual frown scoring across his features.

Astrid
I have never been a calm blue sea
Astrid had been daydreaming, her head lost in the clouds, as some would say, and let out a sharp yelp of surprise when she felt a paw land on her fluffy tail.
The she-cat pivoted her head to look at the owner of the paw-- and had to crane her neck upwards to actually see who it was. Her facial features almost fell when she realized it was Thymos. Now, Astrid wasn't a scaredy-cat, but some cats just.. didn't seem friendly. The tom always seemed grumpy, but Astrid wasn't afraid to start up a conversation with him.
Straightening her shoulders and putting on a bright smile, the she-cat nodded to him respectfully. "You're fine, Thymos! How're you doing?" She asked, noticing the distinct, I'm-grumpier-than-usual-please-don't-talk-to-me scowl gracing his facial features.
Astrid was going to talk to him anyway. He seemed grumpy, and a little more positivity in his morning couldn't hurt him, right? And so, Astrid continued to beam at him, hoping he'd loosen up and carry a conversation.
She'd never really talked much to Thymos before and assumed he found her annoying, but that was fine with her. A lot of the camp did, but that was just dandy. Maybe they could be friends! She hoped so, Thymos looked like he could use some. Not that she doubted he had friends.. the tom seemed nice enough. Yeah, nice enough.

"My heart is weak" "Tear it down piece, by piece" Thymos saw the slight unease in her eyes when he approached, but his ears flattened when she beamed at him instead of just getting up from her place and moving away, like most others in the group did. He knew he tended to be grumpy and annoyed all the time, and he did seem worse today, but he knew most of the avoidance was because he had a birds wing, clear as day, stretched across his left eyebrow, where his fur was short for a change rather than the long length he had inherited from his mountain-dwelling parents, instead of a set of fish bones somewhere. He knew his kits caught some of it too, as they both had the same marking. Wasn't the Nisi supposed to be accepting?"leave me to think" He realized that the more his thought process went down that route, the deeper and harsher his frown became, so he shoved his mind off the track, relaxing his face a tiny bit until disinterest was the most showing visibly upon his features. He supposed he should answer the younger warrior--far younger than him at his age of 47 moons to her 25, in fact, he noticed she was the same age as his kits--before she started chattering again. At least Athena didn't chatter his ear off, though she did quite a bit of chewing most of the time.
"deep in my structure" "I think I still love her"
"You're fine, Thymos! How're you doing?" Came her chirp, making him fight the urge to roll his eyes much like he had done to Athena. The older shecat was usually by his side in the camp, teasing him or making fun of him as she left for a hunting patrol while he was left behind. Although, Athena had the same grumpy streak sometimes, so she was tolerable. Astrid, however... She didn't seem like she would do anything but chirp at him. He sighed defeat, settling on his haunches so he wouldn't just stand there towering over her with his large frame. "I'm fine. Have you been hunting? I smell fish on you. Sargo, was it?" he responded, voice not holding quite the amount of malice his face showed, but rather being more rough an deep, filled with gravel like it wasn't used much. The tom watched the younger shecat, blinking his dark amber eyes slowly as he waited for her response.

I have never been a calm blue sea
Astrid had noticed his flashes of annoyance, but she didn't pay it any thought. She may be annoying, but at least she was being friendly. A lot of the Nisí seemed to be wary of the outsider, and she felt a twinge of pity deep in her chest for the larger tom. How terrible it must be to have your heritage and memories strewn over your eye in the shape of a bird's wing. " Yep! I went for a swim this morning." She informed the tom, her tail swishing to curl over her paws. "Good nose." The she-cat complimented him a bit awkwardly, giving him a sheepish grin. He was fitting in just fine, if he could tell what fish she'd caught by the smell of it. "The thing almost slipped out of my grasp, too!" Astrid recalled, a crease forming between her eyebrows as she thought back on the hunt. She usually tried to catch something every time she swam, but she usually didn't go for Sargo. The things were slippery little devils, if you asked her. However, they weren't as bad as a lot of the fish in the sea. " What're you up to?" The she-cat inquired quickly, coming to the realization she'd been lost in thought for a few seconds. As usual. Words240 Tag♠ PNEVMA ♠NotesAh, alright!

"My heart is weak" "Tear it down piece, by piece" The large tom cleaned between his claws, dislodging scales from the fish he had eaten with Egan the night before but had been too lazy to remove, as he listened to her go on about how annoying Sargos were to catch. He knew this, which is why he stuck to the land parts of the territory, preferring to hunt on land when he was made to go out at all. He gave small nods where he thought it appropriate, but he was honestly impressed that she could talk so much with so little reaction from him."leave me to think" "What're you up to?" She finally gave him a question, or, at least he had heard that one enough to dredge up a response. He thought a bit, would it be appropriate to complain about Athena to Astrid? He wasn't sure if he'd be stepping on any tails--no pun intended--by doing so, and he didn't know if Athena was friends with this one. He decided to... test the waters, so to speak, first.
"deep in my structure" "I think I still love her"
"I, uh, I just came from talking with Athena. Do you know her?" His tone was cautious, and he watched her face closely. Most likely the molly would be delighted simply by the fact that he had given her not only more than five words and a nod, but that he had answered and given her a question to ponder, furthering the conversation without prompting, which was unusual. However, he was relatively curious about his self-proclaimed friend--her self-proclamation--and asking others generally yielded information. So he waited, unusually patiently, for the answer.

I have never been a calm blue sea
Astrid had probably been rambling on forever, and was genuinely surprised the grumpy tom hadn't found an excuse to leave yet. An embarrassed blush crossed her cheeks at the fact she'd talked so much, and so she'd asked him her question in hopes to have the tom speak for once. Astrid.. usually carried one-sided conversations. This wasn't exactly foreign to her. She waited patiently, ears perking in surprise and delight when the tom actually responded, and expected her to reply. The she-cat eagerly opened her maw to speak rather loudly, smiling the entire time. Thymos wasn't as bad as others speculated. Astrid could tell this already. Nisí warriors were accepting, but it was almost as if they never gave any chances. " Not very much! I've seen her around camp, but I'm not sure I've ever spoken to her, no." The she-cat replied, her head tilting as she thought back to the molly she'd seen around camp many times before. Astrid felt a flash of guilt that she'd never spoken to her, but pushed it away quickly. " Why?" The curious she-cat inquired, doing her best to prompt more responses from the tom, who seemed generally quiet. If Astrid could babble on forever, she would, but it was his turn to speak now. "My heart is weak" "Tear it down piece, by piece" Thymos glanced at the open warriors den, Athena's sleeping form slowly moving with her breathing. Good. It would be awkward if the sandy colored molly woke up in the middle of him gossiping about her for the first time in his life. No one but her seemed to talk to him, but he was beginning to find himself oddly endeared by the chatterbox in front of him."leave me to think" He turned his dark eyes back to Astrid, his frown softening slightly and his brow straightening and smoothing just a bit. His posture wasn't as rigid as it had been when he had first stepped on her, and he seemed more relaxed. His attention was focused on her now, but he still kept an eye out, especially for his kits. He wasn't sure how close those two wanted to be with him--since he removed their mother from their lives forcefully--but he was willing to be patient for once.
"deep in my structure" "I think I still love her"
He had zoned out of the conversation briefly, but her response brought him back, his pupils dialating and constricting, refocusing on her face from the daze he had been in. "Not very much! I've seen her around camp, but I'm not sure I've ever spoken to her, no... Why?" Thymos scoffed softly, frowning over his shoulder at the warriors' den again. "She's just become quite annoying recently, teasing all the time. I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience with her. Though, the most she does is make fun of my inability to hunt." His tone was soft at the end, and he lifted a huge paw to stare at the pad, worn and scarred from his life in the mountains, and burnt slightly from the hot sand that made up most of the group's borders here. He glanced up at her, his eyes glazing over in sheepishness, but his face not even twitching. His whiskers flicked, and he shook his head slightly, reprimanding himself silently. "Though that's not of importance. I suppose you enjoy hunting in the ocean, then? Even with that long fur of yours?"

Astrid
I have never been a calm blue sea
Astrid followed the tom's amber gaze to the warrior's den, where her bright blue eyes caught hold of the molly, who was currently sleeping deeply and peacefully. The she-cat wondered if Thymos and Athena were friends. She'd seen them around camp, and though Thymos always looked irritated, he seemed almost more so around the sandy she-cat. Shrugging her curiosity and nosy thoughts off, Astrid pivoted her head to look at the tom as he began to speak, her left ear twitching as she listened intently. The she-cat noticed the tom seemed slightly more relaxed now, and in a fleeting moment of happiness, Astrid wondered if he was finally getting used to her. Astrid knew she was a hurricane to meet at first, but once cats actually got used to her constant talking, they seemed to warm up to her if they stayed that long. Astrid tilted her head. He couldn't hunt? Huh, he seemed like the cat who could. Though, honestly she'd never seen the tom bring back prey. The she-cat was snapped out of her thoughts when Thymos spoke once more, this time prompting a response from her. " Oh! Yeah, I can hunt in the ocean, but I'm a mess on land." She told him, chuckling to herself. Glancing at her long fur, she brought her gaze back up to the tom. " I do have long fur, and it does add a bit of extra weight, which sucks. It's meant for swimming, though. Water rolls off it just like a duck's feather." Astrid told him, lifting up her paw to examine it. " Nisí warriors have adapted to the sea, just like the Vounó have adapted to the mountains. Some of us have webbed paws. I do, look!" The she-cat grinned, pushing her left paw out in front of his face way too eagerly. Words343 Tag ♠ PNEVMA ♠NotesGOD what's with me and accidentally deleting my replies?? Also thank you <3
