Vounó
The Vounó are the mountain dwelling group, and are very different from their counterparts. The way they choose their second in command is by who brings down the largest of Oros' creatures alone, and their fylí is smaller by comparison.
They are all expected to remain devout to Oros and Ielia, and the fylí is extremely strict on the religious followings of the cats within it. There is almost no tolerance to any deviation in regards to the following, and every cat knows this. This also means that a lot of outsiders are turned down from the ranks because of their faith, or lack thereof.
The camp is situated in a shallow valley, with a sheer cliff on one side, and logs and rocks forming walls around the rest of the camp. The dens are in the cliff face, in caves, which leaves the open space large enough to congregate, even if it is a tight fit. This limits space in the fylí, which can be good when the whole group has to move at once.
The cats here are generally hardened, cold, and annoyed. They don't get along well with outsiders, and prefer to stick to themselves and their families when socializing. Evil breeds easily here, but the fact that Oros' creations keep them on their toes at all times generally means that there's not enough time for the wicked to spread. This group experiences a lot of deaths, and their numbers stay very low.
Because of the hardships and harsh life they lead, this fylí is extremely cautious when allowing a rank up. Due to this, they have a separate, extra ritual that is both required to rank up from Initiate to Adept, and from Adept to Warrior. The fylí's Initiates are required to take part in a "Wolf Hunt" where a patrol of cats actively seeks a pack of wolves to hunt and kill off, to protect themselves by thinning the population. These Wolf Hunts happen twice a moon, and for an Initiate to qualify for a rank up, they must be the one to deliver the killing blow to at least one wolf in the hunt, and bring back an object of proof, along with the word of the Lýkos to back them up. For Adepts to rank up to warriors, once the 20 moons are up, and they are eligible to get their new rank, they must again attend a Wolf Hunt, and assist the Lýkos in taking down the Alpha, again bringing back the word of the Lýkos and the item of proof. Once these trials are completed, the ranking up ceremony will be initiated.
WARRIORS RANKS TO γάτα Vounó RANKS
Fun Fact: The Deputy and Leader positions translate roughly to "The Wolf"
and "The Bear" from Greek to English. I did this because I feel like the
Vounó are much closer to their gods than their counterparts are, and so they
ended up naming more ranks after Oros' creations than the islanders did.
